Patrick Noir was a celebrated adventurer of Angel Falls in the mid

1930's. He was curator and operator of the Museum of Natural Mystery, and a private investigator. Also was a key figure in helping the war effort in the 1940's. It was also believed he had connections with the superheroine Amazonia.

Easy going, friendly, likes and respects everyone until they prove unworthy. Wronged, he takes revenge, coldly, methodically, completely. Doesn't like to kill, but will do so if needed and without compunction. Risk taker, morally ambiguous, opportunist. Revels in the variety of experience available in the world. Biography[]
Discovered by missionaries in an impoverished orphanage in Ireland, Patrick was among the group of children sent to a Catholic orphanage in Kansas. During the winter they schooled the kids. In the summer the orphanage sent kids six and older out to farms to help with seasonal work. Patrick gained a lot of worldly experience a
nd strength through this. When he was eight, a tornado destroyed the orphanage and Patrick ran away. Using trains, he traveled the country with the rest of the hobos doing odd jobs in exchange for meals and lodging. He tried to get jobs at libraries whenever he could. They would let him spend the night in the library and he would stay up and read about adventurers, inventors, and discoverers.

He eventually landed a job with a circus tending the animals. He proved such a quick study and eager to work that soon he was learning all the aspects of the circus. He learned to handle wild animals, trained with the acrobats, learned the magicians' tricks, manage the logistics of moving the circus from place to place, and handling the books. He learned well enough to fill in on many of the acts. The circus traveled North America. He began to learn languages like French and Spanish. After several happy, but not so prosperous years, tragedy struck. The canvas of the big top was waterproofed with a mixture containing kerosene. In a hot Pennsylvania summer, lightning hit the tent. e also lost. The owner of the circus was ruined and despondent. He could not, would not rebuild his circus.

With a letter of recommendation from his boss, Patrick was able to join a European circus that happened to be leaving New York at the time. With that circus, Patrick traveled the world. Learned more elaborate and difficult acts, international logistics, more languages. He studied with the swamis of India, the fakirs of Arabia, the shaman of Africa, the voodoo priests of Haiti, the holy men of Tibet. They taught him mental disciplines with which he could enhance his senses and take control of his body. He met royalty and celebrities like Houdini who taught him some of his secrets. He met scientists like Tesla and inventors like Wh
ittle. He began tinkering with electricity and magnetism. And the women. All shapes, sizes, shades, scents, flavors, talents, abilities, and of course demands. Demands he was only to happy to learn and perform to his utmost ability.
He also learned about the mysteries of the world. Lost civilizations, ancient relics, lost worlds, crypto-zoology, megaliths, forgotten languages. He was making good money now and began to collect artifacts, fossils, and filming his visits to strange and exotic places. He discovered what he wanted to do with his life. Like Ripley and Fort, he would establish a base where he could display his collection and show the films of his expeditions. This would fund his own voyages of discovery. The base would be Patrick Noir's Museum of Natural Mystery located in Angel Falls.
Amazonia[]
Amazonia's first appearance
In the late Summer of 1936, Patrick embarked on finding a mysterious object that was said to crash in the Amazon Rainforest in 1892. Many expedition were sent to the area but very few had returned with any evidence of a meteor or celestial debris. In his travels he met Camilla Gomez who reluctantly became his guide through Juruan Native territory. The Juruan had no wishes for any outsiders in their jungle and were known to kill anyone trespassing. In several days they would find the famed Sky Temple which in actuality was a crashed Arion Sky Hammer space craft. Upon their discovery, they were met by an Italian military recovery operation led by Professor Daimano Infierno. After sending Camilla to hide, he was captured, and forced to offload Arion weapons for the Italian military. The were ultimately captured by the Juruan Amazons called Etherians and brought before Queen Bruna to be executed. Amazonia would come to their rescue, and save their lives, as well tell them of the dangers of removing the weapons that were overloading and would destroy everything for miles. After saving the men, she wiped all but Patrick's mind of the Sky Temple. It was decided that since he had a pure mind, that Camilla would be his custodial responsibility to never reveal knowledge of the Sky Temple to the outside world, or Amazonia will kill him.
